Prepare for the birth you want, and confidently navigate the birth you get!

Navigating Your Birth is a series of three childbirth education classes to help you prepare for labor, birth, and postpartum, designed by me. You can take all of them or choose just one!

As always, I provide in-depth practical information so you can prepare for your birth and navigate any unpredictability with confidence.

  • NYB: Labor is all about the stages of labor and advocacy, 3.5 hours long.

  • NYB: Interventions is all about common medical interventions, 2 hours long,

  • NYB: Postpartum is all about normal postpartum in the first 12 weeks, 2 hours long.

Navigating Your Birth: Labor

NYB: Labor is a 3-and-a-half hour class all about the physiology of childbirth for you and your birth partner.

After you complete NYB: Labor, you will:

  1. Know your rights in childbirth and how to self-advocate

  2. Understand the stages of labor and the Golden Hour after birth

  3. Practice non-drug comfort measures and advocacy techniques

NYB: Labor includes a required reading assignment before class with a short overview of the stages of labor and an introduction to advocacy so we can jump right into learning what to do when during our class time together. Information on accessing the reading assignment will be included in your registration confirmation email.

Navigating Your Birth: Interventions

NYB: Interventions is a 2 hour class all about the usage, benefits, risks, and alternatives of common pregnancy, labor, and postpartum medical interventions for you and your birth partner.

After you complete NYB: Interventions, you will:

  1. Know your rights in childbirth and what information you need to make informed decisions about your care

  2. Understand the use, benefits, risks, and alternatives to several pregnancy and/or childbirth interventions

Customize this class by selecting the interventions that you want to learn about in class together during registration. Following completion of NYB: Interventions, you will receive a copy of my master Navigating Your Birth: Interventions Guidebook via PDF ($15 value!) so you have all the information you need to navigate the interventions we did not discuss together.

Navigating Your Birth: Postpartum

NYB: Postpartum is a 2 hour class all about normal postpartum. In this class, you will learn all the messy, moist, unpleasant things that you can expect after you have given birth. But take heart, knowing what is normal for postpartum will free you to prepare for this special time with your new baby so you can navigate your postpartum with a plan for recovery and bonding. After you complete NYB: Postpartum, you will understand:

  1. What is normal for the first 12 weeks postpartum for the birthing person and the baby

  2. How the birth partner and support team can support and cope well in the first 12 weeks postpartum

  3. When to seek support, assistance, and medical care in the first 12 weeks postpartum
